Well that’s one way to kick off the 2022 NFL Draft.
The Arizona Cardinals were among the teams that made a huge splash in the first round Thursday night, and no, it wasn’t from adding a new rookie to the mix.
Instead, Arizona traded off the 23rd overall pick to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for wide receiver Marquise Brown and the 100th pick.
Brown heads to the desert after reeling in 91 catches for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns in 2021.
Not only does the Cardinals wide receivers room get an automatic boost, the move reunites quarterback Kyler Murray with one of his favorite targets from their playing days at Oklahoma.
In their two seasons together at Oklahoma (2017-18), Brown recorded 2,413 yards and 17 touchdowns on 132 catches. He averaged an impressive 18.3 yards per catch during his time as a Sooner.
In the latest episode of Cardinals Corner, an Arizona Sports podcast, Cardinals reporter Tyler Drake and Erik Ruby break down how the Brown acquisition changes things offensively for Arizona.
They also dive into what a trade like this means for Murray’s desired contract extension.
Drake and Ruby then turn their focus on Day 2 of the NFL Draft and what lingering needs the team has as it embarks on the second and third rounds.
