Ryan Tannehill’s mentor comments has Kurt Warner looking to lend a hand

Warner played the good soldier, helping Leinart however he could and making sure to be ready whenever called upon. In 2007, though Leinart was technically the starter, Warner started to earn reps under first-year coach Ken Whisenhunt.
Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill went viral Tuesday after saying it’s not his job to mentor rookie signal caller Malik Willis.
That clearly didn’t sit well with former Arizona Cardinals QB Kurt Warner.
“I will never understand the ‘I’m not here to mentor the next guy’ mentality,” Warner tweeted. “So for all you young QBs that need a mentor, (direct message) me and I’ll be that guy, happy to help in any way I can!”

Warner clearly knows a thing or two about lending a veteran hand to those in need.
Back in 2006 with the Cardinals, Warner was benched in favor of rookie QB Matt Leinart, who was drafted 10th overall that year.
Despite losing his starting job, Warner was a leadership voice that aided Leinart throughout his rookie campaign.
After a broken collarbone sidelined Leinart in 2007, Warner took back over and finished the year before leading the team to an NFC Championship the following season.
Warner was a prime example of being a positive mentor for the young guy in the league while waiting for his moment.
Although Leinart’s career in the NFL never took off, he’s acknowledged Warner’s role in Arizona’s success.
“Kurt Warner ran that football team — I was a part of it,” Leinart told FOX Sports Live back in 2014. “Every single Monday, Kurt Warner would come in and implement 20-30 new plays, which he would say ‘I want these in my game plan.’
“We became a spread offense and we became Kurt Warner’s offense. Then Kurt Warner retires, they go 5-11 twice and they go 8-8.”
