M.J. Daffue pulls off shot on hospitality deck at 2022 U.S. Open

If you’re a golfer, you’ve been there.
After hitting an errant shot nowhere near the fairway, you’re now forced to stare down the result of your failures.
And right on cue, the “can-I-hit-it?” thoughts start popping in the brain.
Maybe it’s locked away behind a group of trees in another fairway, maybe it’s sitting just above water at the edge of the hazard.
Or maybe it’s on the hospitality deck of the 2022 U.S. Open.
"I'm coming right over you, sir."

OK, not many can say they’ve achieved that last one, but M.J. Daffue certainly can after Friday’s Round 2 action.
Putting it on the deck is one thing. Hitting it off the deck is another.
Talk about risky (and major Tin Cup vibes).
After putting himself on the deck, Daffue weighed his options and opted to go with a wood off the deck instead of using a more forgiving club like an iron or just taking a penalty.
Sometimes, when you see that window, you just have to go for it. And the long club off the hospitality deck is absolutely going for it.
“I’m coming right over you, sir,” Daffue said to a patron as he lined himself up for the shot.
The good news, Daffue was able to get the ball out of the gallery and back into play.
The bad news, he had to settle for bogey.
