Major championship golf is always expected to be a great test, especially at the U.S. Open.

That’s been the case at the 122nd U.S. Open at the Country Club of Brookline, with the course showing its teeth for what was a rough Saturday round for the golfers who made the cut.

With a champion to be crowned Sunday, the toughness of the Country Club remains and is already getting the best of the players with early tee times.

Just ask former Arizona State Sun Devil, Grayson Murray.

Entering Sunday’s final round 8-over par, Murray opened with a birdie on the first hole. Murray would bogey the next hole then string together four straight pars before heading to the 385-yard 7th hole, when his round would quickly take a turn.

Murray hit his drive into the fairway but sent his approach over the green. Once he got his putter in hand, it all fell apart.

He went on to card a quadruple bogey on the hole. Murray wasn’t too pleased with his flat stick, chucking it off the 7th green.

The classic tomahawk putter toss, has that thing landed yet?

It wouldn’t get much better for the No. 544 overall ranked golfer in the world. He went on to card a triple bogey on the ninth hole, but appeared to keep his clubs intact.

That was until his approach shot on hole 10, of course.

With 195 yards to the hole, Murray hooked his second shot. Let’s just say it was the last shot he would hit on Sunday with that club, snapping it over his knee.

Murray is currently 18-over in the closing holes of his U.S. Open.

At this rate, he may run out of clubs.
