If you have attended any of the Arizona Cardinals’ training camp practices or have seen videos from them, there’s a good chance wide receiver Greg Dortch was making a big play when you were watching.
The second-year wideout out of Wake Forest has been one of the stories of training camp and he kept that up at the start of the preseason on Thursday in a 36-23 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
In the mid-first quarter on a 2nd-and-5, quarterback Trace McSorley made a throw to the right side of the field in Dortch’s direction, where he made a terrific spinning catch to readjust on a ball headed for his back shoulder. The catch gained 30 yards.

Dortch had four receptions for 53 yards and was also on punt return duty. And guess what, he made another big play.
A Bengals punt in the third quarter that went down to the 21-yard line was fielded by Dortch, who sprinted to his left in order to create some room. While nothing was there, Dortch cut back and looked straight, where all the space was for him to run. A quick cutback to his left to find the true hole took Dortch 55 yards and led to Arizona’s first touchdown of the second half.

Dortch played in five games for Arizona last year, recording three catches for 15 yards. He is in the mix for the fifth wideout spot on the roster while DeAndre Hopkins serves a six-game suspension. It’s a position that wideout Antoine Wesley is presumed to hold once Hopkins returns but Wesley is currently dealing with a groin/hip injury.
