The Sun Devils’ offense lacked life in the second half, with their only score coming on the touchdown run.
ASU turned to Valladay heavily on the scoring drive, as he amassed 103 yards after the carry.
He is the first running back at ASU to run for 100 yards in the first three games of the season since D.J. Foster did it in 2014.
The Sun Devils’ defense had no answer for the EMU offense and the rushing attack after the Eagles’ backup, but more mobile, quarterback came in during the first half and stayed in the remainder of the game.
After the Valladay score, EMU thrashed through the Sun Devils’ defense and scored a field goal with just over four minutes remaining, pushing the lead to nine points.
ASU marched up the field, getting inside the 20-yard-line before committing three penalties and fumbling the ball to end the game.
EMU scored 30 points and had over 200 yards rushing on the night. ASU never held a lead in the contest.
