Bidwill promises change for 2011 Cardinals

PHOENIX – Arizona Cardinals president Michael Bidwill sent a letter to the team’s season ticket holders last week, addressing an underwhelming 2010 season and continuing labor negotiations surrounding the NFL.
Bidwill thanked fans for their support through the 5-11 season and promised the team would get back to evaluating how to reach the playoffs next year.
“Our singular focus now is returning to the type of football that you have come to expect that led to back-to-back division titles, six playoff games in two years, a conference championship, and a Super Bowl appearance,” Bidwill said.
“We failed to meet that standard in 2010 and changes will be made. However, we remain fully confident in the plan that led to our success in recent years and remain committed to it.”
Bidwill also addressed the current NFL collective bargaining agreement, set to expire on March 4, which would interrupt all football activities until the players and owners could reach a new agreement.
Bidwill said he backs the league expanding from a 16-game schedule to an 18-game schedule, imposing a rookie wage scale to benefit veterans and retired players, and enhancing player safety on the field.
“I know that I speak not only for myself but for all of our NFL business partners when I say that we are committed to work as hard as it takes to ensure that the game we all love emerges even stronger next season and for many years to come.”
