It was the bottom of seventh inning in a win-or-go home Game 5 in Toronto between the Blue Jays and Texas Rangers.

The top of the inning saw the visiting Rangers take a 3-2 lead when, with a runner on third, Toronto catcher Russell Martin’s return throw to the pitcher hit Shin-Soo Choo’s bat and rolled away from everyone. The runner scored, the fans booed and threw stuff onto the field and chaos ensued

Order was finally restored, the Blue Jays got out of the inning with just the one run allowed, and went to work in their half trying to even things up.

Thanks to a trio of Rangers errors they loaded the bases before Ben Revere grounded into a fielder’s choice, with the out coming at home. The bases still loaded, Josh Donaldson blooped a fielder’s choice into shallow right-center, tying the game and leaving runners at the corners with two outs.

Then outfielder Jose Bautista stepped up to the plate, blasted the ball into the left field bleachers, gave the Blue Jays a 6-3 lead and promptly broke the Internet. Or at least, it seemed that way as it seemed like the entire sports world was reacting to what it had just seen with amazement, amusement and astonishment.

Though, while the home run was impressive and exciting, it was Bautista’s bat flip celebration that did the deed.

Flip on, Jose. Flip on.
