All the swag from this bowl season

If you’re Arizona’s Scooby Wright, you might be listening to the final college bowl games of the year on your new Sound Pop Portable wireless speakers while wearing a new baseball cap.
Or when the spring semester starts up later this month, he might be rolling around campus in Tucson with his new Oakley wet/dry 30 backpack while wearing his fine knit beanie and new Oakley Holbrook sunglasses.
This is just some of the bowl swag that Wright and his fellow Arizona Wildcat teammates received as part of their trip to the New Mexico Bowl on Dec. 19.
Because of strict NCAA rules, college bowl organizers are only allowed to spend up to $550 for each of the school’s 125 bowl participants including players, coaches and adminstrators. In addtion to what bowl orginzaers can spend, schools and conferences are allowed up to $400 each, adding another $800 per particitnce can reach.
Meanwhile for Arizona State who will be playing Saturday’s Cactus Bowl at Chase Field, they will receive for the most part, the same as their counterparts from Ohio State and Norte Dame in the Fiesta Bowl: a gift suite, Fosssil watch and an Ogio Excelsior backpack. The only difference is the Sun Devils and West Virgina’s backpacks are the Ogio X-Fit backpack, compared to the Ogio Excelsior backpack that was given to the Fighting Irish and Buckeyes.
Is there much of a difference?
Although they could have ended up with the swag that Nevada and Colorado State received for their participation in the Arizona Bowl in Tucson: a backpack and a pair of Cowtown custom cowboy boots.
As for what Clemson and Alabama will receive, organizers say participants will receive multiple “iconic” gifts, but are keeping the details under wrap.
