Arizona Cardinals have their man, trade for Kevin Kolb

After 18 weeks of a lockout and too many quarterback rumors to count, the Arizona Cardinals made it official Thursday when they traded Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for quarterback Kevin Kolb.

The Cardinals are reportedly signing Kolb to a five-year contract extension believed to be worth $63 million, with $21 million being guaranteed.

In four seasons with Philadelphia, Kolb played in just 19 games, seven of which he started. The 26-year-old has completed 194 passes in 319 attempts. He’s thrown 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in his career.

Kolb was drafted in the second round, 36th overall in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Eagles. He played in 50 games for the University of Houston, where he completed 964 passes in 1,565 attempts and 85 touchdowns. In 2006, Kolb was named the CUSA Offensive Player of the Year.

With Kolb on board the Cardinals are free to focus on filling other needs, including offensive line, linebacker, receiver and, now, cornerback.

Kolb will not be able to practice with the team until August 4th.
