The Arizona State Sun Devils will be faced with a steep challenge Thursday night when they take on the No. 2 Oregon Ducks.
Oregon boasts a 6-0 record, 3-0 in the Pac-12 and will face a dynamic ASU team that’s ranked 24th in the coaches’ poll and also remained undefeated in the conference.
The Devils offensive coordinator Mike Norvell told Arizona Sports 620’s Doug & Wolf, the high-scoring Ducks also possess a fearsome defensive unit.
“It’s a team that’s extremely well-coached, very athletic, can run,” Norvell said. “You look at their defensive line, they’ve got great size, great length on the line and at the outside linebacker position.”
Oregon has garnered a reputation for being an offensive powerhouse but Norvell believes their defense is making quite the name for itself this season.
“It’s a great defense,” Norvell said. “Throughout the year everyone wants to talk about Oregon’s offense but there defense has done a great job this year of creating takeaways and creating negative yardage plays for the offense.”
Norvell said it will be critical for his squad to be aware of such plays, as well as carry out their game plan, if they want to be effective Thursday night.
