The 2014 NFL schedule was released Wednesday, more than four months before the first game of the year, and the Arizona Cardinals have their season mapped out against 13 different teams heading into next year.

The Cardinals’ schedule includes intraconference matchups with NFC East teams and interconference matchups with teams from the AFC West.

To open the season, the Cards will host the San Diego Chargers at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale as part of the Week 1 Monday Night Football doubleheader.

The Cardinals will host the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in Week 16 and will play them in Seattle, the site of their rousing upset win last season, in Week 12.

The Cardinals will travel to the brand new Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California to play the San Francisco 49ers in the regular season finale in Week 17.

The Super Bowl runner-up Denver Broncos will host the Cardinals in Week 5.

The Cardinals will make their first-ever visit to “Jerry’s World,” AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tex. to take on the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9.

Quarterback Carson Palmer will visit his former team, the Oakland Raiders, for the first time as a Cardinal Oct. 19 in Week 7.

Of note:

• The Cardinals have three prime time games this season — Week 1 vs. San Diego (ESPN), Week 15 at St. Louis on a Thursday night (NFL Network) and Week 16 against Seattle in Glendale (NBC). That Sunday night game is subject to NFL flex scheduling.

• Arizona plays back-to-back road games only once during the season — Week 12 in Seattle, followed by a trip to Atlanta in Week 13 Nov. 30.

• The Week 4 bye is the earliest since 2001, when the Cardinals had a Week 1 bye.

• The Cardinals play only three games in the Eastern time zone — and one of those (NY Giants, Week 2) will be an early start time.
