The Arizona Cardinals announced they have released practice squad quarterback Aaron Murray, who was competing with Zac Dysert for the team’s third-string job. The announcement was made on Monday afternoon.

The Cardinals signed Dysert and Murray to compete for the third quarterback job after Matt Barkley, who previously was released Sept. 3 and signed with the Chicago Bears’ practice squad, signed on Sept. 4, one week before Murray was eventually released.

Now onto his sixth team, the 26-year-old Dysert will look to retain a spot on the team.

Dysert attended Miami (Ohio) and broke Ben Roethlisberger’s record for total passing yards (12,013).

Additionally on Monday, cornerback Trevon Hartfield was re-signed to the Cardinals’ practice squad after being released during the team’s final roster cuts on September 3. Hartfield joined the team as a rookie free agent from Southwestern Oklahoma State. As a first-team All-Great American Conference selection in 2015, he recorded five interceptions and 73 tackles.
