Arizona Cardinals’ Lorenzo Alexander: Seattle Seahawks play championship game every week

LISTEN: Lorenzo Alexander, AZ Cardinals linebacker

The Arizona Cardinals did what no NFL team did last season: beat the Seattle Seahawks in Seattle.

But it was the Seahawks who won the Super Bowl, while the Cardinals finished outside the playoffs at 10-6.

Cardinals linebacker Lorenzo Alexander, who missed the season’s final 13 games with a foot injury, said on the Doug and Wolf show on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM the difference is the Seahawks “play a championship game every week no matter who they’re playing.”

The Cardinals need to have a similar approach, according to Alexander.

“What we need to do is kind of mimic them and develop that type of mindset whether we’re in practice against our offense, whether we’re playing Seattle or the (San Francisco) 49ers, or whether we’re playing a team that may be struggling at that time that we come out and set a tone.”

The Cardinals began the season with a rough 3-4 stretch before getting into a groove in the second half of the season when they won seven of the final nine games.

“We need to start like that because we lost two or three games that we probably should have won early on that cost us a playoff berth last year.”
