David Ross to nervous Cubs teammate Anthony Rizzo: ‘It’s only going to get worse’

Here’s the set-up: It’s Game 7 of the 2016 World Series, your team hasn’t won it all since 1908. You came back from a 3-1 deficit and lead by three runs in the middle of the ballgame.
Even for a star like Anthony Rizzo, it’s a lot.
Luckily, FOX had the Chicago Cubs dugout mic’d up to catch Rizzo admitting all his nerves to veteran teammate David Ross. What it included was a back-and-forth for the ages.
If Rizzo was looking for comfort from Ross, well, it probably didn’t help.
Rizzo: “I can’t control my swing, I’m trying my best.”
Ross: “It’s understandably so buddy.”
Rizzo: “I’m emotional.”
Ross: “I hear you.”
Rizzo: “I’m an emotional wreck.”
Ross: “Well, it’s only going to get worse. Just continue to breathe, that’s all you can do buddy.”
Rizzo: “I’m in a glass case of emotion right now.”
Ross: “Yeah, yeah. Wait ’til the ninth with this three-run lead.”
Let’s just assume Ross, who is playing his last game — and hit a home run soon after the exchange — isn’t going to be taking on counseling as his post-baseball career.
