Arizona point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright left the Wildcats’ game against Texas Southern on Wednesday with a leg injury.

The starter for coach Sean Miller left with 12:27 remaining in the first half after a collision while attempting to move across a screen.

Miller said in his postgame radio interview that Jackson-Cartwright will be out a significant amount of time due to a high ankle sprain.

Jackson-Cartwright left the game with two points, two rebounds, an assist and a steal. He is averaging 9.0 points and 6.0 assists per game this season.

Without their point guard, the Wildcats won 85-63 behind 19 points from Lauri Markkanen but were left with seven scholarship players. Walk-on Tyler Trillo was used sparingly as a rotation player off the bench.

Injuries and the unspecified absence of guard Allonzo Trier, who again was on the sideline against Texas Southern, have hurt Arizona’s depth. The team on Wednesday officially added walk-on Kory Jones to the roster.

Markkanen added to his team-high scoring evening with five assists, six rebounds and two blocks, while fellow freshman Kobi Simmons added 15 points off the bench. Kadeem Allen, who saw increased time at point guard with Jackson-Cartwright’s injury, added 14 points and seven assists.
