Cardinals can thank the Packers for Kevin Kolb

“The Green Bay Packers made it possible for Kevin Kolb to
be a Cardinal.”

Those are the words of Sports 620 KTAR’s John Gambadoro,
and the butterfly effect certainly works here.

As Gambadoro notes, Kolb was the future of the
Philadelphia Eagles going into last season’s opener
against the Packers.

However, a hit from Packer linebacker Clay Matthews
knocked the QB out of the game with a concussion, Michael
Vick took over and the rest, as they say, is history.

“If he had never gone out in that game, who’s to say Kevin
Kolb wouldn’t have played really, really well and never
lost his starting job as the quarterback with the
Philadelphia Eagles,” Gambadoro asked.

We’ll never know.

What we do know is that Vick revived his career, leading
the Eagles and making Kolb expendable. Philadelphia
shipped the freshly demoted Kolb to Arizona, and the
Cardinals found the guy they hope will lead them back to
the playoffs.

And, if they’re right? The Eagles’ loss would most
certainly be the Cardinals gain, and it would all be
thanks to the Green Bay Packers.
