Arizona Wildcats to wear new uniforms Saturday vs. UCLA

Feb 20, 2015, 10:47 PM | Updated: Feb 21, 2015, 6:09 pm

The Arizona Wildcats will debut some new duds when they host UCLA Saturday at the McKale Center in Tucson.

Made by Nike, they are called, “Hyper Elite Disruption” uniforms, and they have been created for just eight programs across the nation, including Arizona, Duke, Florida, Kentucky, Oregon, Syracuse, Baylor and UConn.

From a press release about the uniforms:

Each school’s home uniform features a white base with school-specific color lettering that includes a 26-degree speed graphic. The design crosses the front of the jersey, fades into an iconic symbol of each school and extends across the side of the shorts. The 26-degree angle of each school’s graphic on the uniform was inspired by the chevron on the classic Nike Windrunner track jacket that debuted in 1978. Each graphic represents a distinctive basketball point of view, based on the roughly 1,000 directional changes, or “cuts,” that a player might make in the course of a game.

The Wildcats’ speed graphic has an evolved multi-bar graphic from its current game shorts.

The Wildcats, ranked seventh in the country, are 23-3 (11-2 in the Pac-12). This is their only scheduled meeting this season with UCLA (16-11, 8-6). Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
