With their home nations battling it out on the pitch Sunday in Brazil, Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Didi Gregorius and left-handed reliever Oliver Perez decided to make a little World Cup wager.
The loser had to walk around Petco Park’s visiting locker room wearing the winner’s jersey.
Unfortunately for Perez, a native of Mexico, Gregorius’ fellow Dutchmen managed to come back in their Round of 16 match, scoring an equalizer in the 88th minute and a go-ahead tally four minutes into stoppage time on a penalty kick.
True to his word, Perez donned the Netherlands’ orange kit during warm-ups.
