As part of its long-term Globalization Initiative, the Pac-12 will send Arizona State’s men’s basketball team to China next month.

The team will compete in games in the Chinese cities of Beijing, Zhaoqing and Nanning, facing both collegiate and professional teams, while also participating in cultural exchange and goodwill activities with other student-athletes.

Also representing the Pac-12 in China will be the Cal women’s basketball team and head coach Craig Robinson of Oregon State, former University of Oregon coach Ernie Kent and Cal’s associate men’s basketball head coach Travis DeCuire, who will team up to teach a coaching clinic for over 150 Chinese basketball coaches.

“We are honored and excited to travel to China in what will be a great educational experience for our program
on and off the court,” said ASU head coach Herb Sendek. “We appreciate the opportunity to play against international competition, to learn and travel to a wonderful country and to grow the Arizona State
University brand in all areas.”

The Sun Devils will also have the opportunity to experience Chinese culture, visiting historic landmarks and participating in special ceremonies marking the trip.

The team departs on August 9, playing the Tsinghua University team in Beijing on August 12, Fujian SBS, a Chinese CBA pro team in Zhaoqing on August 16 and again on August 18 in Nanning.
