Schefter: Manning decision coming soon

The Peyton Manning saga may have a definitive conclusion sooner rather than later.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Manning camp is hoping to make a decision on where the four-time MVP will call home within the next week.

While it’s believed Manning would prefer to stay in the AFC, he is open to switching conferences if the fit is right.

Sources report 12 teams have reached out to Manning’s representatives Wednesday to make their interest in the superstar quarterback’s services known.

Of those 12 teams, sources tell ESPN that the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos and New York Jets have actually been in contact with Manning’s representatives.

The 14-year veteran will clear waivers Thursday and doesn’t have to wait until the free agent period begins Tuesday to be eligible to sign with his new employer.
Manning’s decision will bring to an end months of speculation about the future of one of the NFL’s all-time greats.

Manning, who missed the entire 2011 season after undergoing four neck surgeries, has long been linked to the Cardinals, who currently have Kevin Kolb and John Skelton in the mix at quarterback.
