Having a major role in back-to-back season opening wins over a division foe and the defending AFC champions will quiet a lot of Kevin Kolb detractors -- but not all of them.

ProFootballFocus.com is a website that meticulously grades players on a weekly basis, and let's just suffice it to say that they weren't all that impressed with Kolb's performance even though he was at the controls of a huge upset win.

From PFF:

He may have led (in the loosest possible way) his team to another victory, but this display was exactly what we've come to expect from Kevin Kolb (-2.9). He was skittish in the pocket, several times leaving a clean pocket to invite pressure onto him. He showed poor judgment, throwing a late ball to his fullback that could have easily been intercepted. Most of all he was just inaccurate, missing on a variety of passes which brought drives to an end (most notably missing an open Todd Heap for a surefire touchdown with 7:51 to go in Q1). What made it all the more baffling was that he wasn't making tough throws or challenging close coverage. Only five of his attempts went further than 10 yards in the air, which makes the 55.6% completion percentage all the worse. A victory can often make you ignore it, but this was a deeply uninspiring performance, from a deeply uninspiring player.

Ouch.

PFF points out that only five of Kolb's 27 passes went more than 10 yards (although I counted six) -- and that's not exactly forcing the issue in the passing game. And considering that Kolb only completed two of those six passes for 23 yards (a QB rating of 45.8), their analysis holds a little water.

But then again, Kolb's decision to audible for himself at the New England 5-yard line -- a play that turned into a crucial touchdown early in the fourth quarter -- didn't get mentioned. Nor did the fact that Kolb didn't throw an interception in the game and did a nice job of scrambling out of the pocket to avoid sacks. New England dropped him for a loss only one time in the game.

There may be times where Kolb (or John Skelton for that matter) will be asked to throw the ball down the field in a more aggressive manner to keep the Cardinals in a game.

Sunday wasn't that day. Kolb was asked to manage the football game, and he passed that challenge with flying colors.

Kolb did ok - lets not be piling on after a win
The Todd Heap miss where he had no defenders in front of him and probably would have scored AND the LSH miss where LSH had blockers ahead and might have scored ARE two plays that were left on the field. Those types of plays must be made but he did good things as well and I think his performance was something we can build on.

    Offense
Everyone knows about the Cardinals QB struggles. Apparently Mike Miller put together a game plan that worked. Kolb may not have been perfect but at least he didn't try to force things and looked more patient in the pocket. He may have had a fumble and missed a few throws but he also had a touchdown and made a few good throws. Also the offense only allowed only one sack. (THE POINT IS WE KICKED THE PATRIOTS BUTT)..... GO CARDINALS

It wasn't impressive, but he did enough to contribute to the win. There seems to be a conservative gameplan in place for Kolb at this point. As long as he stays healthy and maintains the starting spot, I think we'll see AZ open it up for him as time goes. I think they're progressively trying to build him back up into what they want step by step, compared to what he was prior. But we'll see. As long as the Cards keep on rollin...

I was actually impressed. I wasnt blown away impressed. But I was satisified with the way he played. I would imagine he'll get better. He didnt turn the ball over at all. He did miss some big plays. I watched the game again last night. He overthrew Heap a few times. He overthrew on 3rd downs. But at least he didnt turn it over! Manning said it best after the ATL game. When a QB turns it over it puts the team in a hole. But just because he didnt turn it over and scored 2 TD's doesnt make him good enough. He needs to work harder and be better on 3rd downs. On every down! We have 2 good QB's :)

    I Dont Like Outsiders Opinions
Unless you watching every snap the entire 60 minutes your just bored and commenting for your own entertainment. Yes he displayed guts yes he was active in the pocket yes he made an impressive savvy veteran audible or two, But the fact of the matter is he clearly displayed why he lost his job to a 5th rounder out of Fordham who rakes in 550,000 annually. He got it done but the Offensive coaches had no faith in him to get a 1st down late in the 4th on 2 trips. Their is no sugar coating it PFF is extremely credible! Missing The Hyphen And Heap nearly costed us a huge W! Must Clean Up!
