The Arizona State Sun Devils are going bowling this year, though no one is quite sure yet where they will be.

However, one place they won't go is New Mexico.

"The reality is for us, we're in the middle of finals during the New Mexico Bowl," Arizona State athletic director Steve Patterson told Arizona Sports 620's Doug and Wolf Tuesday. "So we just can't go there."

The Gildan New Mexico Bowl is schedules for December 15th.

listen Listen: Steve Patterson, ASU Athletic Director
Steve Patterson talks to Doug and Wolf following a weekend in which ASU won the territorial cup down in Tucson. How concerned was Steve in the Fourth quarter of the game against U of A? And, how impressive was Taylor Kelly all season? Plus, what bowl game might ASU go to? Plus, Steve talks about all the other sports going on at ASU.
That leaves the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas and the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco as the most likely destinations for the Devils, though Vegas may be out due to having played in the game last season.

"So then whether we go to San Francisco or to Las Vegas, which is where I think we should go, over the next few days we'll get some resolution about that," he said.

    Patterson walking lightly
I guess finals are as good a reason as any to skip a bowl game, it just kind of seems like an excuse though. ASU AD best stay careful of upsetting bowl officials. Honestly, if that were the bowl they were picked for, who cares. When it comes down to these after thought bowls, it doesn't really seem to matter. I am sure they all give the kids and families opportunities to see different places.
