After a two-year drought, ASU basketball is back in the postseason.

Despite a disappointing end to their season -- lost five of last six games -- the Sun Devils were selected as a No. 3 seed in the NIT and will host Detroit Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. MST.

It marks the fourth time ASU has made the postseason in Herb Sendek's seven-year tenure in Tempe. If Sendek and Co. get by the Titans, they would play the winner of Baylor/Long Beach State.

The Sun Devils' last appearance in the NIT came in 2010 as a No. 1 seed. That year, ASU was upset in the first round of the tournament by No. 8-seeded Jacksonville.

Wednesday night's game will be shown on ESPNU.

You have to define postseason as any post regular season scheduled games playe.....bawhahahahaha....nah you nailed it ASUcks! If ASU is fortunate Carson comes back next year but it's not going to matter. He'll fill the stat sheet for his draft status and he'll single handedly win them 10 games. Same old thing for the scummies...it's ok they should be proud of having the likes of players like Carson and Harden in their stat books but that doesn't wins games, titles or recognition.

What's with all the hate? ASU had a decent season minus their last 6 games and beat some pretty tough teams. Yeah they didn't make the NCAA Tourney, but were in the mix all season til they blew some important games at the end. Just wait til next year, we'll make the REAL postseason.

they had their destiny in the palm of their hands
I thought they would make the dance this year, so I am a bit dissapointed. If Carson, Felix, and Bachynski return than we will see Pac-12 competator. Otherwise, UofA will be the only postseason cheers. Whats up with the Az Sports page, any one having problems with the headlines overlapping each other?

    Next year
@rdgroce: Felix is a senior...... But, Carson will be better as will Bachynski and Gilling (both averaged 9.8 ppg). Gordon comes back, averaged 10 ppg. I like Eric Jacobsen too as a solid contributor...... So, we'll have a solid (4) starters........but may not be much behind them.

    great season for ASU
relatively speaking ASU had a fantastic season. Just the have a winning record is huge. You can not compare ASU to UofA they are 2 completely different programs. That is like comparing high school freshman to the likes of Jordan, Magic, Bird, etc. UofA could beat the Suns.
