Report: Stanley Johnson seeking assurances before declaring for NBA Draft

Apr 13, 2015, 5:07 PM | Updated: 5:07 pm

All season long it was believed Arizona’s Stanley Johnson would not return for a sophomore season.

Since the Wildcats’ season ended with an 85-78 loss to Wisconsin in the Elite 8, UA has seen sophomore Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and junior Brandon Ashley announce they were leaving school early to begin their professional career.

Yet, there has been no word from Johnson, other than a report saying he was “torn” on whether or not to go pro or return to school.

Well, now there may be a bit more clarity in Johnson’s thought process.

Johnson, who averaged 13.8 points 6.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game for Arizona last season, won the Julius Erving Award for being the country’s best small forward. The Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, NBADraft.net projects him to be picked eighth while DraftExpress.com has him going ninth.

ESPN’s Chad Ford rates Johnson as the 11th-best player on his big board.
