Arizona State football junior defensive back Kareem Orr announced via Twitter on Tuesday that he’ll be leaving the program and transferring to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in his hometown.

Orr didn’t specify in the post the reasoning for the transfer, only vaguely citing “issues that have occurred over the past weeks.”

The loss of Orr is a big one for head coach Todd Graham and ASU, who just lost DB Armand Perry last week after he retired for medical reasons. Hits to the secondary is the last thing the Sun Devils need after a 2016 season in which they were dead last in the country in passing yards allowed.

In two seasons in Tempe with the Sun Devils, Orr made a name for himself. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound DB was a consensus Freshman All-American in 2015 with 38 tackles, six interceptions and two passes defensed with a forced fumble.

In 11 games last year as a sophomore, Orr was fifth on his team in tackles with 53, making one interception to go with five passes defensed.

Orr will join the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, not to be confused with the University of Tennessee. The “Mocs,” as they’re called (short for mockingbird), play in the FCS’ Southern Conference and are led by head coach Tom Arth.
