David Ortiz is one of the best baseball players in recent memory to take the field.

The Boston Red Sox realized that and retired the No. 34 he wore with them on Friday.

To help celebrate the achievement, he got to throw out the first pitch against the Los Angeles Angels at Fenway Park.

He stepped on the rubber and fired the ball outside.

OK, it was way outside but let’s face it, his Red Sox team probably knew it was going to happen.

Not known for his defense, they put him in the designated hitter spot on the line-up card as often as they could. Out of the 2,408 career games he played in between the Red Sox and Minnesota Twins, he was solely the DH in 2,029 games, or 84 percent of the time.

Big Papi threw the ball more like 50 Cent than a baseball player being celebrated for 20 amazing season in the big leagues.

No one might be able to top that “throw” however.
