Arizona State’s Hail Mary TD to end first half was absolutely bizarre

Oct 28, 2017, 10:15 PM | Updated: 11:01 pm

There isn’t even a good way to start trying to explain what happened when the Arizona State Sun Devils scored on a Hail Mary touchdown pass at the end of the first half against USC.

To begin, the Hail Mary toss was wild enough on its own, with the ball being tipped to Kyle Williams for the catch. Unfortunately for Williams and his team, he was called a yard short of a touchdown and it was now halftime.

With a review on the way, the replays did not appear to show any overwhelming evidence to reverse the decision.

Both teams went to the locker room, but then the play was reversed and ruled a touchdown, to the surprise of everyone watching.

The extra point would come next. The problem was, both teams were not on the field, and instead, it was the band.

ASU made it out, but someone had to go tell the Trojans to come back for the PAT, and that responsibility fell on the field judge.

After a long wait, USC was back on the field and the extra point was kicked to make it 31-10 Trojans at halftime. Nearly 10 minutes after Williams’ catch, the half was officially over.
