Cardinals’ Ricky Seals-Jones is now a famous fantasy football player

Quarterback Blaine Gabbert’s performance was the top storyline for the Arizona Cardinals, and rookie safety Budda Baker’s more prominent role was the No. 2 thing to watch.

From there, the Cardinals’ treatment of dinged-up Drew Stanton might’ve been the biggest personnel change heading into the Week 11 game against the Houston Texans.

Ricky Seals-Jones was probably not in most people’s top-10s of things to watch.

He will be next week.

The rookie tight end made his first appearance for the Cardinals Sunday, and he didn’t disappoint, catching two touchdowns through the first three quarters and closing with three grabs for 54 yards.

“Whenever they called the personnel I just went in and did what I had to do. Didn’t try to do too much, just tried to do my jobs,” Seals-Jones told 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s Paul Calvisi.

“When I get flashed out (like a wide receiver), it’s kind of being back in my element. Back in college, I was a receiver, so when I was out there, I kind of felt at home, loose.”

Seals-Jones, who played college ball at Texas A&M, showed a unique chemistry with Gabbert, who himself was making his first appearance as a Cardinal. Through three quarters, Seals-Jones had been targeted five times — third-most to Larry Fitzgerald’s 10 and John Brown’s six.

“We’d been wanting to get him up there since Mo (Ifeanyi Momah) got hurt,” coach Bruce Arians told Calvisi. “He’s been really impressive on the scout team. We put some things in for him and he responded, so he’ll probably get some more things.”

Of course, the breakout performance drew the attention of fantasy football team owners online.
