The Arizona Cardinals struggled last season as they finished third in the NFC West and went 8-8. There’s always next season though, right?

However, according to ESPN’s 2018 NFL Power Rankings, Cardinals fans may not see much improvement in the upcoming season. ESPN has the Cardinals ranked near the bottom at No. 26.

In the early power rankings, the Cardinals are the lowest-ranked team in the NFC West, which is led by the Los Angeles Rams at No. 9.

The Cardinals overcame major injuries to David Johnson, Carson Palmer and along the offensive line. But they’ll have even more obstacles to overcome this offseason.

One of those obstacles depends on whether or not Larry Fitzgerald decides to play at least one more season or retire.

Meanwhile the new regime, under head coach Steve Wilks, has some tough decisions about what to do at the quarterback position.

At the moment, the Cardinals don’t have a single quarterback signed for next season. Arizona can fill this hole by drafting a quarterback in April, going after Super Bowl MVP and former Arizona Wildcat Nick Foles or perhaps signing Kirk Cousins.

Depending on what happens with Fitzgerald and the team’s quarterback search, maybe the Cardinals’ future will look a little more promising after free agency and the draft.
