Arizona Cardinals first-round pick and rookie quarterback Josh Rosen had a debatable first preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday.

Rosen was 6-of-13 passing for 41 yards but was dealing with low snaps throughout from backup center Daniel Munyer and pressure.

“He was under distress a little bit, particularly when you start with a low snap constantly,” Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks said Monday on 98.7 FM Arizona Sports Station’s Bickley & Marotta.

“I thought he did a great job stepping up in the pocket when given the opportunity and we’ve gotta do a much better job of protecting him.”

Wilks said the team will have the snapping corrected with Munyer and the low snaps were not an issue that came up during training camp.

Munyer spoke with the media on Monday.

“I did feel bad because it was when Josh was in at quarterback, and I told him after, ‘man, I’m sorry, I didn’t even know I was doing that until it was too late,'” he said. “And that definitely killed some momentum in terms of timing with the throws and everything like that and I’m aware of that.”

In the team’s second preseason game on Friday against the New Orleans Saints, Rosen will see time with the first-team, Wilks told reporters on Monday.

“Gonna give him an opportunity, maybe, to get in there with the ones and, again, get into a rhythm and really get the timing down with those guys,” he said.

With that chance for Rosen comes a longer look for starting quarterback Sam Bradford, who only made one throw and didn’t play beyond the first offensive series. Bradford, along with other first-team players, will have more playing time with it being another week into the preseason.
