Gresham inactive, Nkemdiche healthy for Cardinals vs. Redskins

Arizona Cardinals tight end Jermaine Gresham won’t play in Week 1 against the Washington Redskins as he continues to work back from an Achilles injury suffered at the end of last season.

He’s joined on the inactive list by third-string back and return man T.J. Logan (ankle), quarterback Mike Glennon, cornerback Deatrick Nichols, defensive end Markus Golden, offensive lineman Jeremy Vujnovich and offensive lineman Korey Cunningham.

Gresham entered the opener listed as questionable.

Golden, who tore his ACL after appearing in four games last season, was already ruled out of the game by head coach Steve Wilks on Friday.

“Again, I think both of (Golden and Gresham) are sooner than later,” Cardinals general manager Steve Keim said on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s Doug & Wolf show this Friday. “I remain hopeful that both those guys will come back in the near future. It’s a week-to-week thing with both of them right now.”

Arizona will, however, have several nicked up defensive lineman available against Washington. Corey Peters, who missed the last two preseason games after injuring himself in the second exhibition outing against the New Orleans Saints, was a full participant in practice Friday for the first time since his injury.

Fellow tackles Robert Nkemdiche (foot) and Olsen Pierre (toe) remained limited in practices all week leading into Sunday and were listed as questionable. But both are able to play Sunday at State Farm Stadium.

Logan was also considered questionable heading into the game with an ankle injury.

For the Redskins, receiver Maurice Harris was ruled out with a concussion.

Receiver Jamison Crowder, however, will play after missing practice for non-injury related reasons Friday, as will linebacker Ryan Kerrigan, who was limited with a hip injury. Defensive tackle Trent Williams is also available after being limited in practice.
