Arizona State will honor the late Pat Tillman with a Salute to Service set of uniforms for its game at Sun Devil Stadium on Saturday against UCLA.
The Sun Devils will wear gold helmets and pants, plus maroon tops. “PT-42” logos or patches honoring Tillman, who wore No. 42 when he played linebacker for ASU, will appear on the right leg of the pants, just below the neckline, on the helmet facemasks and along one side of the helmets.
The backs of the jerseys will be inscribed with the following phrase:
“Somewhere inside we hear a voice. It leads us in the direction of the person we wish to become but it is up to us whether or not to follow.”
ASU has made the annual tradition of honoring Tillman, who left his NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals to serve as an Army Ranger and in 2004 was killed by friendly fire during combat in Afghanistan.
Last year, the Sun Devils wore a “Brotherhood” set of drab-colored uniforms.
Those uniforms were outfitted with camouflage helmets that had a list of ASU veterans on the back.
Here’s a look at the 2018 version honoring the Sun Devil star.
