The supposed non-review of a crucial two-point attempt late in ASU football’s 31-29 loss to Oregon on Saturday has miffed the Sun Devil faithful in the days since.

The Pac-12 on Tuesday provided clarity to the situation, releasing a statement noting that the play — an incomplete pass to wide receiver Frank Darby with 4:35 left — would not have been overturned even with an official review.

From the Pac-12:

In the case of the Arizona State-Oregon game, because it was a two-point conversion and immediately before kickoff, the replay crew had over one minute to watch this play from multiple angles (in HD) and they concluded that the play would have stood as called on the field, which is why they did not buzz down for stoppage to the game.

Several ASU fans posted screenshots of the play after the game, challenging the Pac-12’s call and decision to not review it.

Despite the call, the Sun Devils had another offensive series to try and win the game but it ended in a turnover from quarterback Manny Wilkins.

ASU’s Pac-12 South title hopes were dashed with the loss.

The Sun Devils (6-5, 4-4 Pac-12) close out the regular season on the road against Arizona (5-6, 4-4) at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
