Chandler High School head coach Shaun Aguano is headed to Tempe to join Herm Edwards’ staff, according to SunDevilSource.com’s Chris Karpman.
Aguano will be coaching the Sun Devils’ running backs, replacing John Simon.
Simon held the position for three years before reportedly taking a job with Memphis this offseason to become its wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator.
Aguano coached the Wolves for eight seasons, building up one of the state’s premier high school football dynasties. This past season, Chandler posted a record of 13-1, winning its third straight state championship and fourth in the last five seasons.
It should be a fairly smooth transition for Aguano with the group he’s coaching being led by standout sophomore Eno Benjamin. ASU’s leading rusher had a breakout seasons, rushing for 1,642 yards and 16 touchdowns. The team’s second-leading rusher Isaiah Floyd will also be a junior next season.
