The Arizona Cardinals have signed free agent pass rusher Terrell Suggs to a one-year deal, the team announced Thursday.

Suggs received interest from the San Francisco 49ers, who made a late push to add him, according to 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro.

Suggs, 36, has been a member of the Baltimore Ravens since he was drafted by them in 2003.

The former Arizona State and Hamilton High School standout is one of the best pass rushers the NFL has seen in the past two decades. The 10th overall selection in the 2003 NFL Draft, Suggs is a seven-time Pro Bowler and was the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2011.

His 132.5 sacks are tied for 13th on the all-time NFL leaderboard. In the 13 seasons, Suggs has played in at least 15 games, he’s amounted to at least seven sacks in every season but one.

With old age, Suggs has still remained productive. He’s had at least seven sacks in each of the last three seasons, totaling 26 since 2016.

Suggs played 72 percent of the Ravens’ defensive snaps last year and recorded 34 tackles and 7.0 sacks in 16 regular season games.

NFL.com ranked Suggs as the No. 42 best available free agent.

With Markus Golden entering free agency, the Cardinals have an opening for the pass rusher on the opposite side of Pro Bowler Chandler Jones. It is possible the Cardinals could retain Golden at a reasonable price if another team doesn’t throw big money at him, according to Gambadoro.
