Cardinals’ loss to the Seahawks: By the numbers

Oct 18, 2013, 4:17 AM | Updated: 4:17 am

The Arizona Cardinals stayed close for a half with the division-leading Seattle Seahawks Thursday night, but in the end Pete Carroll’s squad had no problem delivering a powerful primetime at University of Phoenix Stadium.

Here’s a look back at the Cardinals’ 34-22 loss by the numbers:

1:

Marshawn Lynch’s two-yard touchdown run in the third quarter marked the first time all season Arizona had allowed a rushing touchdown at home.

2:

Seattle tight ends Kellen Davis and Zach Miller each caught a touchdown pass Thursday. The Cardinals have given up two more touchdowns in a game to the opposing team’s tight end(s) on four different occasions.

3:

For the first time in his NFL career, Russell Wilson passed for three touchdowns in a road game.

6:

With their win over the Cardinals in Glendale, the Seahawks improved to 6-1 on the season — their best seven-game start in franchise history.

7:

Carson Palmer was sacked a season-high seven times in the 18-point loss, as Chris Clemons, Cliff Avril and Tony McDaniel manhandled the Cardinals’ offensive line — in particular left tackle Bradley Sowell. Arizona QBs have been sacked 16 times in the team’s last two Thursday night games.

8:

Arizona has lost eight straight games within the division dating back to its win at home vs. Seattle in Week 1 of 2012.

11:

Kicker Jay Feely was once again a bright spot for Arizona in a losing effort. The 37-year-old knocked all three of his kicks through the uprights, including one from 52 yards out. Feely has made 11 in a row following his miss in the first half of Week 1.

12:

Bruce Arians’ squad dropped two games within the division in a span of five days. Both games were decided by the same point differential of 12.

13:

Carson Palmer threw two more interceptions against the Seahawks, bringing his total to 13 through the first seven weeks. As a Raider, Palmer had 14 all of 2012.

17:

A week after posting his best statistical performance of the season (six catches, 117 yards and a touchdown), Larry Fitzgerald was held to just two catches for 17 yards against Richard Sherman and the Seahawks’ secondary.

18:

Through seven games, the Cardinals find themselves at 3-4. Their four losses, however, have come to team with a combined 18-7 record.

30:

The Cardinals picked a bad time to have their worst rushing performance of the season. On 18 carries, Arizona backs had just 30 yards on the ground — good for 1.7 yards/carry average.

55:

Linebacker John Abraham recorded the first two sacks of his Cardinals’ career in the third quarter Thursday, with one of the QB takedowns resulting in a forced fumble. Seattle’s Russell Wilson became the 61st different quarterback Abraham has sacked in his NFL career.

58.3:

Seattle’s offense was very efficient on third down Thursday night, converting on seven of 12 opportunities (58.3 percent).

90:57:

Jay Feely’s 49-yard field goal in the second quarter snapped Arizona’s scoring drought of 90 minutes and 57 seconds against Seattle dating back to an Andre Roberts’ go-ahead touchdown grab in the team’s 20-16 win back in Sept. 2012.
