Arizona State adds to 2011 recruiting class

Demarkus Perkins, a defensive back out of Highland Community College in Kansas, has signed a national letter of intent to play football at Arizona State in 2011.

The 6-2, 200 pound redshirt sophomore played both cornerback and safety while in junior college. Perkins is scheduled to arrive in time for fall practices and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

The Sun Devils needed some help at cornerback after senior Omar Bolden was lost to a torn ACL and it is likely that Perkins can help fill that void as he was named to the Honorable Mention All-Jayhawk Conference honors team in 2010.

Perkins, who will be one of the biggest corners in the Pacific-12 conference, totaled 43 tackles last season in addition to his eight pass breakups, four forced fumbles and one interception.
