Devils give up Pac-12 South driver’s seat

Nov 6, 2011, 2:34 AM | Updated: Nov 8, 2011, 1:03 am

The Skinny – Freshman Alex Garoutte
missed a 47-
yard
field goal as time expired and the UCLA Bruins escaped
with a 29-28 win
over the Arizona State Sun Devils before 65,438 fans at
the Rose Bowl in
Pasadena.

The Bruins took the lead on a 1-yard Derrick Coleman
touchdown run with
:49
remaining. ASU took over possession and got into field
goal range after a
pass interference call on UCLA’s Aaron Hester and a 12-
yard completion
from
Brock Osweiler to Mike Willie.

That set the stage for Garoutte’s attempt, which was well
short and off to
the
right.
