ASU’s Will Sutton named to player of the year watch list

Arizona State University defensive tackle Will Sutton was named Friday to the 2013 Walter Camp Player of the Year Watch List.

Sutton, a redshirt senior, was a 2012 consensus All-American and earned Walter Camp Second Team All-American honors for his performance during his junior year. He tallied 63 tackles — including 23.5 for loss — and 13 sacks during the campaign. He was also second in the nation for his 1.92 tackles for loss per game and third nationally with 1.08 sacks per game.

The standout defensive lineman also earned the Pac-12 Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year award last season and was the defensive player of the game for the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, which the Sun Devils won 62-28 over Navy.

In addition to the Walter Camp preseason recognition, Sutton has been named to five other watch lists for the 2013 season.

The Sun Devils athletic department said Sutton is one of nine players on the football squad to be recognized this summer on preseason award watch lists for the 2013 season.
