ASU basketball coach Herb Sendek speaks at Pac-12 Media Day

Coming off of a fifth-place finish in the Pac-12 and a trip to the NCAA tournament, the Arizona State men’s basketball team will enter the season with low expectations.

This may be a difficult task after losing starters Jahii Carson, Jordan Bachynski and Jermaine Marshall.

But with an increased role for returning players, such as senior forward Jonathan Gilling, Herb Sendek said at Pac-12 Media Day on Thursday that the team will need the veterans to step up for the Sun Devils to compete in the air-tight conference:
