The Arizona Cardinals reportedly will re-sign safety Christian Bryant off the New York Giants practice squad, adding depth to a secondary depleted by injury.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reported that Bryant will return to an Arizona team he appeared in two games with earlier this season.

Bryant played as a special teamer after he was promoted from the Cardinals practice squad on Nov. 1. The 24-year-old, who is in his second year out of Ohio State, has four career tackles and one in 2016.

Arizona cut Bryant in late November to make room for safety Tyvon Branch’s move off the injured reserve list and onto the active roster.

Branch has since returned to the IR with a groin injury, and the Cardinals have also lost Tyrann Mathieu and Tony Jefferson to injury for the remaining game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Now, it’s reasonable Bryant could see action in the season finale. Against the Seattle Seahawks in the second-to-last game of the year, Arizona moved D.J. Swearinger from free to strong safety in place of Jefferson, who was placed on the IR Tuesday with an MCL sprain.

Sixth-round pick Harlan Miller, a cornerback, played as an untrained free safety after Jefferson was lost early in the win Saturday.
