MoMo Jones lands with Iona Gaels

Jun 8, 2011, 4:23 PM | Updated: 5:27 pm

The second it was announced guard MoMo Jones was planning on transferring speculation as to where he would go started to swirl. Though St. John’s was the early favorite, it was not his school of choice.

Iona just picked up a huge commitment in Arizona transfer Momo Jones, according to a source.less than a minute ago via UberSocial Favorite Retweet Reply

Not knowing who Iona is or where they are located will not be held against you (it’s New Rochelle, New York if you were wondering), but the MAAC school did win 25 games last year so it is not as if Jones will be the only talented player.

That said, Iona is certainly a step down from Arizona, though he left Tucson to be closer to his family, who lives back East. It is for that reason why you can’t really blame Jones for leaving, and Arizona fans will likely wish him luck and success as he continues his college basketball career.

Unless, of course, the two teams happen to meet in the NCAA Tournament.
