Wildcats land Xavier transfer Mark Lyons

May 6, 2012, 8:00 PM | Updated: 9:02 pm

The Arizona Wildcats overcame the long odds and landed the highly
regarded transfer star they coveted.

Former Xavier guard Mark Lyons tweeted he committed to the Wildcats
Sunday.

Lyons reportedly had interest in Kentucky and Kansas, but ultimately chose
to reunite with head coach Sean Miller, who recruited him to Xavier in
2008.

The 6-1, 188-pound standout is expected to be able to play immediately,
since he is planning to enroll at Arizona as a graduate
student. He should give the Wildcats a huge boost at the point guard
position next season.

Lyons was a third team All-Atlantic-10 selection for Xavier last season and
averaged 15.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.
