Cardinals elevate OL Vinston Painter from practice squad

The Arizona Cardinals moved offensive lineman Vinston Painter from the practice squad to the active roster Thursday as they prepare for a Week 11 game against the Houston Texans.
He adds depth to an offensive line that lost starting left tackle D.J. Humphries to a knee injury last Thursday in a loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Humphries was placed on injured reserve and is out for the season.
Meanwhile, right tackle Jared Veldheer moves into Humphries’ position across the line, and John Wetzel takes over at right tackle. Painter, who has experience at guard and tackle, is listed on the Cardinals’ depth chart as the backup at right tackle.
Painter, the 6-foot-4, 318-pound sixth-round pick in 2013, has played for the Broncos, Browns, Giants, Dolphins and Redskins.
Along with Humphries, Arizona’s offensive line is also without Mike Iupati, who is on IR and was the starting left guard heading into the season.
Second-year pro Evan Boehm is listed as a backup at both guard spots and center, while rookie Will Holden is the listed backup at left tackle.
The Cardinals also recently added 2016 third-round pick Max Tuerk — he’s currently listed as the third-string center — by signing him off the San Diego Chargers’ practice squad.
