Former Arizona State linebacker Jay Jay Wilson is headed to Auburn for his final season of eligibility, according to 247 Sports.

Wilson will transition from linebacker to H-back and will likely start at the position for the Tigers next season as a graduate transfer, according to the report.

Wilson is one of several Sun Devil players who announced this offseason their intention to transfer from the school.

The Valencia, Calif. native began his career at ASU at tight end and played his first two seasons at the position.

Wilson had 81 receiving yards and three touchdowns, including two in a game against Washington, in his sophomore season.

The 6-foot-3, 243-pound Wilson was moved to linebacker as a junior following a season-ending injury to standout linebacker Koron Crump.

He returned an interception for a touchdown against Utah in his first career start and became an integral part of the defense, recording 46 tackles and four tackles for loss in 2017.

The 2018 season didn’t see the same production for Wilson, who didn’t retain a large role with the emergence of freshmen linebackers Merlin Robertson and Darien Butler.

Wilson was suspended for the season opener against UTSA because of a “team-related situation” and played in just four games, which allowed him to use the season as a redshirt.
