The quarterback room at Arizona State will be a little smaller.
Redshirt junior quarterback Dillon Sterling-Cole informed coaches that he intends to transfer and enter the portal, according to The Athletic‘s Doug Haller.
Sterling-Cole is listed third on the quarterback depth chart behind starter Jayden Daniels and freshman Joey Yellen.
To see more playing time, Sterling-Cole has been participating on scout team and special teams.
During his freshman season, he appeared in several games and finished with 388 passing yards.
He made his first career start Oct. 29, 2016 at Oregon, and was just the fifth true freshman quarterback in program history to start a game for the Sun Devils.
With Sterling-Cole transfering, ASU is left with four quarterbacks on the roster: Daniels, Yellen, and fellow freshmen Ethan Long and Trenton Bourguet.
