Arizona State defensive end Tyler Johnson exited Saturday’s game against Washington State due to an apparent leg injury with 5:00 remaining in the third quarter.

He was helped off the field, went into the medical tent and did not return to the contest.

Johnson had three tackles and one quarterback hit on WSU’s Jayden de Laura before going down.

The Sun Devils trailed 28-7 at the time.

The edge player has been consistent for the Sun Devils, tallying 96 tackles and 28.5 tackles for loss in his career.

Johnson had three sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss this year entering Saturday’s matchup.

The graduate student from Gilbert was named the Walter Camp National FBS Player of the Week on defense and Pac-12 Defensive Lineman of the Week after a dominant performance against Stanford in Week 6. He totaled 3.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, as well as two sacks of Stanford quarterback Tanner McKee.

He was the fifth Sun Devil to ever receive honors from Walter Camp.

The ASU defensive line is already missing Jermayne Lole, a 2020 All-Pac-12 honorable mention. He has not played a snap this year with a triceps injury.

Johnson’s current status is unknown but will be one to monitor ahead of next week’s home game against USC.
