Former Arizona State defensive back Damarious Randall was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month for November on Thursday.
The Green Bay Packers’ cornerback record 19 tackles and two interceptions through five games and proved to be a bright spot for the Packers in November during which they went 1-4 after starting the season 6-0.
Some of Randall’s November highlights include recovering an onside kick vs. Detroit on Nov. 15 in the Packers’ 18-16 loss and recording a career-best nine tackles Nov. 1 in Green Bay’s 29-10 loss to the Denver Broncos, where he also intercepted a pass from Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. Randall grabbed his second interception of the month the following week against Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton in the Packers’ 37-29 loss.
Randall was drafted in the first round with 30th selection. As a Sun Devil he was selected first-team All Pac-12 in 2014 after finishing the season with 106 tackles and had an interception return for a touchdown in each of his two seasons played at ASU. His 85 solo tackles during his senior season is the fifth most in ASU history.
The Packers (7-4) are one game behind the Minnesota Vikings for first place in the NFC North and travel to play the Cardinals on Dec. 27.
