‘Cardinals Flight Plan’: Offseason moves, including Pugh’s dancing

Super Bowl LIII is over. The 2019 season is officially underway.

With that, the Arizona Cardinals released the first episode of “Cardinals Flight Plan” Thursday night. It touched upon last season before transitioning into the Kliff Kingsbury coaching hire and how players spent the offseason.

The episode lamented over the previous season for a short time before the music got more hopeful as quarterback Josh Rosen was introduced, throwing a touchdown pass to wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.

There were clips of the press conference announcing the firing of then-head coach Steve Wilks. A question was posed to general manager Steve Keim and president Michael Bidwill: Will Arizona attempt to follow the path many in the league were going and hire a young, offensive-minded coach?

We now know the answer was yes. Kingsbury came aboard.

Quarterback Josh Rosen has spoken to him and reached out to players Kingsbury coached in the past. They gave glowing reviews.

“I couldn’t ask for a better coach with a particular specialty than quarterbacks and offense,” Rosen said. “I’m really excited to get back there.”

The camera showed him at Daytona Beach in Florida, helping 4Ocean clean up trash from the beach. He said he practiced environmentalism and a kid, and a large part of his decision to sign with Adidas was their relationship with Parley For The Oceans.

“I’m trying to set an example for young athletes alike to align yourself with companies and products that you actually use and believe in,” Rosen said. “I think the offseason, this is what this stuff is all about, sort of exploring your passions and what you want to do and how you want to leave a mark on this earth.”

He’s not the only player who spent the offseason away from football.

“You have to be able to unplug in the offseason and really just get away from football,” wide receiver Christian Kirk said. “Once April hits, it’s football season until the following January.”

Justin Pugh went completely out of the comfort zone of his offensive line, dancing with other linemen on the Late Late Show with James Corden.

“If you ever asked me to, like, two truths one lie, I’d be like, my and Beyoncé have worked with the same choreographer,” Pugh said.

The episode closed with the commitment from the face of the organization: Larry Fitzgerald.

He’s back.
